"Would like to interact more with service users"

About: Nottinghamshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust / Adult mental health (inpatient)

(as a staff member posting for a patient/service user),

Today, we visited The Willows to gather feedback about the services & facilities they receive on the ward.

This is the feedback we received from a peer support worker on the ward

"Would like to interact more with service users - more groups as that we don't seem to have time for and more art (maybe done in group form)

Need more coffee mornings, perhaps on a Monday and Friday morning because everyone is up - then we can get service users attending the groups on offer.

It would also allow service users to tell staff what they want from the weekly review and what we can do to aid the process. "

Along with the Head of Involvement (Paul Sanguinazzi), I am responsible for the Trusts two Involvement Centres, and our Volunteering and Befriending Service. I help to report all of the feedback we receive as a Trust to the Board.

Thanks for helping to gather comments at the Highbury Listening event. We have had quite a few comments relating to groups, so this indicates real support for the idea.

All comments gathered at the Listening Event are being shared with the senior management team who oversee Highbury services, and I'm sure they or a responsible manager will respond in more detail shortly.

Thank you for these ideas as a member of staff on Willows you will be aware one of our aims is to develop a robust group programme on the ward, where previously this has been ad hoc we are in process developing a timetable of groups with a minimum of two per day,and creating a menu of groups that staff can offer which patients can select from, as a member of staff you will be expected to get involved and your ideas are very welcome
