"Cherry Ward: The staff always look after you"

Posted on behalf of a service user on Cherry ward (older people's mental health) at Highbury Hospital:

The care here is really good. Some of the nurses are a little bit abrupt and a bit bossy, but most are lovely and jolly. Everyone is caring.

They always look after you, but they could perhaps be a little warmer sometimes.

Diane is doing a very good job, helping people to stay busy.

The ward is always nice and clean.

Along with the Head of Involvement (Paul Sanguinazzi), I am responsible for the Trusts two Involvement Centres, and our Volunteering and Befriending Service. I help to report all of the feedback we receive as a Trust to the Board.

Just a quick initial response to say that all comments gathered during the Listening Event at Highbury Hospital have been passed onto the senior management team who oversee services at the hospital (including Cherry Ward). I'm sure they, or a responsible service manager, will respond in more detail shortly.

Thank you for your comments about the staff on Cherry Ward and about Diane in particular.

I know how hard they work to look after patients and their families and they would always want patients to feel looked after and cared for.

I'm sorry to hear that you sometimes feel that some staff aren't always as warm as they could be and I'll bring this to the attention of the Ward Manager for her thoughts on how to approach this issue with her team.
