My 29 year old daughter Kerrie was recently diagnosed with M.S, having went to the Sunderland Eye infirmary with a vision problem she was sent to the Royal for a MRI scan she was called back the following day for a further scan which confirmed that Kerrie did have M.S. I cannot thank the staff enough for the sensitive and professional way Kerrie's diagnosis was handled. The Neurologist and the specialist nurse talked Kerrie, my wife and I through the initial diagnosis and treatment that would be given in an understandable and sympathetic manner. Kerrie had initial treatment with steroids then commenced her long term treatment on the Phoenix wing. This has been a traumatic time for Kerrie and the family but the friendly, relaxed and professional atmosphere created by the M.S services team and the nurses in the Phoenix ward B3 has been a great help. Kerrie has been given all the information she needs in a controlled fashion and has not felt overwhelmed. We realize this is only the start of her long journey but we are sure that with the help and support of the excellent M.S Services Team at the Royal this disease will have the least possible effect on Kerrie's life. We know that we can contact them at any time if we are worried about anything. This is very important to us and we can't thank everyone involved with Kerrie's treatment enough. Thank you !
