"D6 planned admissions unit at city hospitol"

About: City Hospital (Birmingham)

Anything else?

I had to go to d6 planned admissions to be admitted for open surgery for possible cancer,no mrsa nose swab was taken, the lady on the first desk was very rude and quite abrupt, you have to sit in a small waiting room and wait for someone to call you,i was then called by the lady on the front desk who was quite abrupt in her manner,i gad to go to a chair in another waiting area, where you then are sitting with other patients who are waiting for there procedure,i was nil by mouth,I'm also diabetic,i was then asked to go in to a sort of cubicle with an f2 ,where she asked questions about my health, there was a coach and a bed table and two chairs in there, nothing warming at all,she then asked me to sit on the coach so she could listen to my chest, she then a blood test,i was then told to wait back in the waiting room again,i never saw a anesatist,a phi silo,i was getting very hot and didn't feel well at all my husband was trying to keep me cool by fanning me with a leaflet, three nurses seen him do this and never once offered any help, there is a male nurse on this unit who does nothing but shout at people and the staff,i did not feel at all at ease on here,my blood sugars kept falling low,so i was told i could drink some squash till 1130 am,by this time now i was burning red all over my skin and i had a bad headache,i felt like i was going to faint,i felt really unwell ,my blood sugars kept dropping, i was told by my consultant that my surgery would be between 2/3 pm, 4 pm came and my hubby went up to the nurses desk and asked if they knew how much longer before i go to theater, the nurse said they would phone through to see what's going on ,the next minute i know this male nurse is shouting at the top of his voice at the nurse because she phoned up about me,his attitude was very rude to both myself and my husband, and after waiting from 8 am till gone past 4pm i was told that my surgery was cancelled,i was really upset about this has i prepared myself for this ,i was told that someone from the theatre was coming to talk to me, a lovely male surgeon came to see me he was very caring and professional he talked to me and explained some things and then i was given some dates for my surgery what i could pick to suit me,i was alarmed to find out that if you are 2 nd or 3 rd on the list your surgery could get cancelled if they run out of time or the scrubs staff go home,i find this appealing in the least has i would of thought that if you are on the list for your surgery that day that you would get your surgery, however i really didn't want to come back to city hospitol for my surgery but was assured my my surgeon that it is best for me,so i agreed ,my new surgery is in January 2014 so I'm hoping that it will go ok,but i will leave another review on the hospitol afterwards..

I hope your surgery in January goes well. We never want to cancel, and nor do I want to see a review with such a mix of compliments for caring staff and reflections on a bad experience, with rudeness and shouting. Toby Lewis, Chief Executive
