Attended on 13:12:13 for Myringotomy and adult grommet insertion plus endoscopic examination of nasopharynx - basically to sort out a bunged up and deaf right ear. Attended for pre-op assessment about 10 days before which went well. Arrived at Saphire Ward at 07:30 for admission. I was seen by two nurses, the anaesthetist and the consultant who was to do the procedure. All were friendly, approachable and professional and I felt fully confident in what was to be done - which was explained carefully to me at every stage. At all times my privacy and dignity were respected. In the anaesthetic room everything was again explained and each procedure preceded by an explanation and check. As soon as the anaesthetic was started (or so it seemed) I woke up and all was done (about 40 minutes). I was then wheeled to Recovery at Riverside where I was again looked after and given tea and toast. All the nurses and staff were exceptional, caring and professional. I was given full advice on what to do after discharge and given pain killers in case I should need them. No pain or bleeding and only after effect is a slight sore throat which I was told was likely, caused by the breathing tube used during anaesthetic. I have had a number of procedures done at Lewisham including Colonoscopy, liver biopsy and gastroscopy; as well as various X-ray, scans and examinations and every time I have been treated with the upmost care and consideration. Nurses and doctors are always top rate and every part of the hospital I have visited has been immaculately clean. I would recommend this hospital without hesitation and congratulate the staff on the wonderful treatment and the way they treat patients.
"Excellent treatment - as always"
