"Waiting for my results"

About: Norfolk & Norwich University Hospital / General surgery

(as the patient),

On the day of my op I was told the results (testing for cancer) would be phoned to me within 7-10 days.

After 12 days I phoned up and was put through to the consultant's secretary. I asked if they had the results and she said she would phone back asap. 1/2 later received phone call, they had the results but as the consultant wasn't there (Thursday) for today and tomorrow it would be Monday before they could ring me.

I now have to wait an additional 4 days to see if I need more surgery/chemo etc or have the all clear.

I find I've gone from stressed over the results, to very annoyed that only one person can read my results, even though I was operated on by another consultant, so there's clearly more than 1 person to feed back my results.

We are sorry that it took so long for you to get your results at a worrying time. If you are able to provide us with more details, we will raise this with the oncology team. Our Patient Advice and Liaison Team can help at pals@nnuh.nhs.uk or telephone 01603 289036.
