My almost eighty year old dad was taken to James Paget by ambulance after being taken ill whilst we were on holiday. He had emergency surgery which almost certainly saved his life. Every member of staff we encountered was polite and efficient, my dad was treated with respect and courtesy, his care was second to none. We had to leave him in the high dependency unit to travel home, I rang every day and never felt like I was being a bother, his transport home was arranged smoothly, I was even telephoned to say that he was on his way. Over the years I have had the misfortune to visit several hospitals nearer to our home and I cannot understand why one hospital can get things so right and others so wrong. Well done James Paget, High Dependency Unit, Ward 5 and Ward 18, and thank you for looking after my dad.
