"Breach of health and safety /human rights"

About: Hull Royal Infirmary

Anything else?

In regards to my awful experience at the Hull Royal Infirmary. After arriving in a ambulance i was disgusted with the way i was treated following a very sensative matter. I was bleeding very heavily, little did i know at that time, i was suffering a miscarriage. On arrival i was put on a bed down a corridor, then placed in a cubicle with open curtains along the main corridor which patients and staff had full view of whilst i had bloods/blood pressure taken by two different male nurses. I had no clue of what was happening, i was then given a beaker taken from the water fountain along that same corridor and asked to do a urine sample, which was collected by a male worker pushing beds around. With crying babies and vomiting alcholics, and ill elderly patients everywhere i laid on the bed for about 4 hours in total, with no advice or reassurance from any staff, i was scared, anxious, and feeling very alone as my partner had to stay home to look after our other children. When visiting the toilet i found there was no toilet paper, diarrhoar all over, and generally mucky and unhygienic not suitable for use as a public toilet ,certainly not in a clinical environment. I reported this and was reassured the matter would be dealt with. When asking a member of staff for assistance i was just told to use another one further away which was inconvenient as was unable to walk as was still heavily bleeding. Once again i visited the same toilets after been told they were cleaned ,but still no change. The cleaning rota on the door said last cleaned 15.30pm more then 12 hours ago as it was 5 am the following day.I arrived shortly after 1am and was neither checked or given any sanitary products, only did i receive a towel for my bleeding when i came across a paramedic who originally took me to the hospital 2 hours prior who kindly went to his vehicle to get me one. ,I was later asked from the chap who took my sample, if the sample was mine as he had some results in his pocket but was unsure whose they were. There was some frail elderly patients left on beds in the corridor gasping for air, one of which asked me as i was passing if i could get them a glass of water as there was no staff on hand to assist. I felt there was no respect for the elderly, as i witnessed a nurse just lift the ladys arm up to look at a name band on the old ladys wrist, rather then making any kind of interactions,or talking to her , just looked at her name tag like she was an item, then pulled the bed along. I found this very upsetting. having been told i had miscarried i was discharged at 5;45am feeling distressed, was given no advice or pain relief , still no offer of any towels for the bleeding. I left the building feeling disorientated with no means of getting home, my partner found me traumatised down the road he too was disgusted with the way they dealt with me. The ambulance crew was very reassuring making me feel at ease, in a professional but caring manner.
