"No mental health beds in Kent or the country"

About: Mental Health Services Swale

(as a carer),

My daughter was sectioned some time ago on a given morning only to be told they could not hold her as there where no beds available in Kent or elsewhere in the county. I said what about the '136 suite' (this is where police take patients if they are suffering a mental health episode). I was told they couldn't 'as the police have to take them there'. I went to the police on the door and asked them, they said, 'we can't touch her as she is on hospital property, if she runs off then we can take her there'. They found a bed in Maidstone, so I left for home and went to bed. 2 hours later I received a phone call from my daughter saying " I am in a cage not on my way to Maidstone". I rang the Crisis team and asked where are they taking my daughter. The answer was they got lost, Baring in mind my daughter was suffering a mental breakdown her treatment was appalling. Like most people suffering a mental health issue it seems to me they are they are treated like second class citizens.
