"Lost faith"

About: Torbay Hospital

Anything else?

I was taken to A&E following an accident in which I hurt my knee. The wait was excruciating. We were not informed what was going on, but were just left to sit there and wait...for a very long time. Luckily my pain was not too intense by this point, but it was very uncomfortable, and silly o'clock in the morning. It would have been good to know what was going on at least rather than just indefinitely waiting. By the time we were finally seen to, the doctor was friendly and nice but obviously very pushed for time. We later heard him discussing with the nurses what to do about my condition. It became evident no one was sure what to do. Following this, he came to ask me what treatment I had undergone for previous issues of this nature, and finally advised I attend a more local A&E as soon as possible, which by this point I was keen to do. I wouldn't advise people have accidents in Torquay... it wasn't the most reassuring of experiences, and they need more staff.
