About: Whipps Cross University Hospital

Anything else?

My aunt was taken into A&E by ambulance for kidney stone pain on 27 November. She got to hospital at 6.30pm and had to wait with a number of other emergency stretchers for about 40 mins to get a bed. She was given morphine by ambulance crew so was no longer screaming in pain as she had done when they were called. Once she was given a bed she was left there for 2 hours before a nurse finally asked her to do a blood and urine test. This was foliowed up with an x ray which we had to wait 3 hours more for. I asked a nurse for a blanket as my aunt was shaking from feeling cold, to which she just said 'no more blankets' and walked off. How disgusting, she just could not care less. I then asked the senior nurse for one and she made this unhelpful nurse go and get some from another department, which she did begrudgingly. The attention was very inconsistent. We had one nurse after another come to look at my aunt, not really doing much whilst they were there. We had to keep asking nurses for updates and attention as they would otherwise seemingly leave us there all night with no assistance. We finally were allowed to leave at 12.30am, this is 6 hours after arriving by ambulance. They could not find anything wrong and sent her home. I would not recommend this hospital to anyone. The staff in the main do not care, they are all too busy and not at all attentive. The wait time is also unacceptable.
