Last week I had to bring my daughter in via A&E with abdominal pain. While it appeared that she might have appendicitis, it was not a classic case and she was well other than the pain. The staff on Bluebell ward, from the housekeepers to the Consultants were all wonderful. The nurses especially must have a very difficult role as they have to deal with the diverse needs of babies right through to young adults, not to mention their worried parents and other relatives. The play specialists are also a very useful resource. At all times we were kept informed and my 12 year old daughter was involved in decision making processes. While it was frustrating at times, we feel that all decisions were made in a timely manner and it was right to wait and see. Eventually after 3 days the decision was made to perform an appendectomy. . Again all the staff were excellent in their care and attitude towards us. The pre-op and recovery staff were professional & caring. A few of the nurses on Bluebell ward really stood out, making our stay better than it otherwise could have been. One of the doctors that had seen my daughter several times earlier in the week even stopped by in recovery to see how we'd got on as he wasn't involved in the surgery. My daughter is now recovering well at home, we are so lucky to have the NHS. Thank you.
