"Food distribution"

About: The James Cook University Hospital

Anything else?

I would like to suggest a change to the distribution of food to the wards. Ward 8 for instance (bay 4) was always last to get their meals, and it was often cold - Instead of starting at bay1 every time couldn't the bays be changed on a rota basis starting at a different bay number. Monday lunch menu was Strips of ham in a cheese sauce or Fish in Cheese Sauce. Some people don't like cheese - why couldn't it be Parsley sauce?

Good afternoon Thank you for your feedback, regarding food provided to patients at The James Cook University Hospital. The Trusts inpatient meal service commencement point in each ward is varied on a rotational basis as this is a key element in the successful delivery of the patient food service. This service requirement is therefore reflected in the Trusts Service Partners training for their designated Ward Housekeepers who serve the patient meals. The temperatures of patient meals is closely monitored with regard to our legal duty of care for food safety and to ensure that food is consistently served hot, in this regard the Trust is not aware of any recent problems with food temperatures on the ward in question. The comments regarding choice of sauces is a matter which the Trust is currently reviewing in consultation with our specialist Dieticians, as patient feedback such as yours is very important to us in seeking to improve the patient meal service. I hope this reponse has been helpful. If you would like to discuss this issue further, please do not hesitate to contact the Patient Advice & Liaison Service on 0800 0282451 With best wishes Patient Relations
