Anything else?

Shambolic, tramatic underesourced lack of care during 3 night labour, booked for induction noone asked if we wanted, 5 hour wat for 1str stage induction, staff come and go who knows most of there names, waiting hours for promised epidural, 6 hours for 2nd stage induction to start, forgetting to empty bladder, coered into not going home to rest as it will harm your baby, not allowed to eat for 2 days, filthy toilets covered in feaces you clean yourself even after asking, continually monitored and kept awake with people bursting into rooms turing lights on so they can see the notes and check drugs 'we need to do it for legal reasons', 'dont care what that doctor said I'm in charge now' rude staff, quoted group think 'policy' continually by staff no individual care and groups of them come into rooms to grind you down to accept there plans, advice contradicts NHS leaflets, no respect for birthing plan or informed consent, cascading intevention, if you complain they just say 'were busy and you are told off or patronised' midwifes do little other than check monitors and write endless notes they don't let you read, so far 6 members of 8 person NCT group been here and have emergancy C Section, exploring legal options but probably no point - if you want to be kept for days on machines immobile while the inevitable c section awaits then go here, aparently they never close to more patients so go into crisis lack of management - so either you are in crisis or you are left waiting for hours trapped in labour with no care until you become a crisis - disgracful place

I was extremely sorry to learn of your recent experience during the labour stage of your babys birth here at the Royal Derby Hospital. We would certainly like to have the opportunity to investigate the concerns you have raised in more detail so we can respond to you further. If you could therefore be so kind as to contact our Patient Advice & Liaison Service (PALS) on Freephone 08007837691 or via email dhft.contactpals@nhs.net to provide us with more specific information and they would certainly be happy to try and assist you further. In the meantime, may I offer you our sincere apologies for any upset caused to you on this occasion. Kind regards Miss Deborah Furness, member of the Derby Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust Patient Experience Team
