"Referral To The MSK At Dewsbury"

About: Locala Community Partnerships CIC / Locala MSK muscles, joints & bones

(as a relative),

My wife has just had an "assessment", and I have to say I have been left completely shell-shocked by the amount of waffle and lack of understanding for the pain she has been going through.

After several years of physio with no improvements to her agonising pain she suffers every hour of every day, a chiropractor suggested that she had an x-ray on her pelvis which resulted in a diagnosis of sacroiliitis. My wife had never been given a proper diagnosis until this so we felt great knowing what she had, and were hopeful of treatment that could ease the pain.

Her local GP referred her to the MSK at Dewsbury for treatment, and for 80 minutes not once was she asked about the pain, or what movement she could and couldn't do. She was basically told it was all in her head.

If that wasn't upsetting enough to listen to, the person she saw started telling her that little bears don't climb trees because if they fall they hurt themselves! There were other animal stories told to try and give examples of how the animal world copes! They also told her who would be helping with her physio, a person who's name I won't mention, who won't be there for long as they are not allowed to work there anymore. The amount of "advice" was a basic print out of 3 exercises to perform at home, but if she gets down onto the floor she cannot get back up without any help.

My hope of a way forward has been shattered by this person. My wife has made another appointment with our GP and will be asking for a second referral to another clinic.

If you are looking for actual help, I would not advise going to Dewsbury MSK clinic. Disgusting
