"my life with bpd"

About: Lincolnshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust

(as the patient),

My life with (borderline personality disorder) bpd has been very difficult to live with. I was first showing signs at the age of 6 years old. I was very disruptive at school and home life; I wouldn’t listen to parents or peers. I was a violent child, also beating up other kids or starting on people older than myself without care of my actions. At 15, I was finally diagnosed with bpd and with puberty came different emotions and more aggressive stance. I was violent towards my younger brother at the time (he was only 3) and towards anyone that tried to get close to me. At 18 I had my first proper psychiatric evaluation, which didn’t help because they put me on medication that was not prescribed for bpd. At 22 I had a psychotic breakdown and my parents through me out for their own (and my sibling’s) safety. I am now 25, I still have breakdowns and fit of anger outbreaks everyday - sometimes more than one a day - which could be due to anything. At the moment, I’m on benefits due to my anger at work and assessed as a risk to others at work and home life. Due to the wrong medication I was given, I now suffer from heavy breakdowns, as well as voices. I know this sounds like I’m looking for attention, I’m not - this is just a small guide line or others to see if suffer the same. Don’t suffer, please try and get help as soon as possible. I had no-one to talk to about bpd, so I’ve had to go alone. I hope this small part of life helps.
