My sister was admitted with a life threatening illness via A&E. A&E staff were excellent - twas a busy Friday evening.In no time she was seen by 2 consultants and treatment began The first week of the stay was spent in ICU. All of the staff were excellent. Good clinical skills and reassuring manner. The next month she was on a general respiratory ward and there the care was dissappointing. Knowledge was poor, seemed to be an unhappy workforce with just occassional bright nurses looking after the patients well.This was the lowest time for my sister as she had little confidencd in the team. Then moved as needed surgery so just over 10 days or so on cardiothoracic. Brilliant team. High standards of nursing and care. Overall a great hospital but just a few members of staff need to be reminded they are dealing with vulnerable people who need extra care not less care.
