From my initial appointment until my discharge, I have nothing but praise for all the staff that were involved with my case. I had day surgery from Chew Ward. At my first appointment all the pros & cons of an Arithoscopy were explained and the examination was very thorough. I felt that I was given plenty of time to make all the points I needed to make. The staff at my per-op appointment were friendly and efficient. On surgery day I could not have been treated any better. The waiting time was acceptable and I was often asked if I was warm, comfortable and if there was anything I needed. A young nurse in charge of admissions that day ( just completing her training) was a credit to Southmead hospital and her training. She was professional and respectful when privacy was needed - but very friendly and caring. I met the team that would see me through the operation & recovery plus the physiotherapist. I was then amply looked after, after my operation, by the catering staff - with coffee and biscuits initially , a sandwich later and the offer of a hot meal nearer to lunchtime. All in all I cannot fault the experience and I am recovering well from my operation.
