"Appointment Cancellations"

About: Scunthorpe General Hospital

Anything else?

After waiting 6 Months in pain to come and see the pain specialist I was given less that 24 hours notice of a change of appointment. This is not a major issue but having to wait over another 3 months is not great patient care. Surely if there was a problem on that day I sold not be placed at the back of the Que and should be see sooner.

Hello, thank you for your comments. There has been a significant increase in demand for our chronic pain service which has unfortunately meant some delays to appointments. We have increased our doctor capacity in order to cope with this. In addition, the Trust has launched a community chronic pain service . This means that patients will receive much shorter waiting times and be assessed by a multi-disciplinary team before being referred (if necessary) to the hospital. We do try and give as much notice as possible to changes in appointments and I apologise if this didn't happen in your case. Kind regards, Sarah Mainprize
