On December 28th, 2008, I slipped on ice walking my dogs. My right leg slipped forward and kicked into a kerb edge about as hard as you can kick something that ain't going to move out of your way! The pain was excruciating. For 4 years a succession of GP's and another hospital fobbed me off with diagnoses of arthritis, then gout, then anything but what was wrong with me. In November last year, at my own insistence, I went to Warrington hospital instead. This time my GP had referred me for a bunion. Thank God for a consultant who listened to me, and acted on my comments that my ankle was locked and I could not move it. Because she immediately sanctioned weight-bearing X-Rays, and also an MRI Scan and a CT Scan, she was able to diagnose on receipt of these that in fact, my ankle had been dislocated for four years. I am awaiting surgery but Warrington Hospital staff are second to none. I have never had any form of operation before and was quite stressed about the whole procedure, but I am being reassured all the way. At least thanks to the Warrington Hospital there is light at the end of the tunnel.
