"Tameside General Hospital"

About: Tameside General Hospital / Cardiology

(as the patient),

Generally the hospital is very good. Casualty is very busy but the staffed coped very well. All the staff were very competant and good quality.

There were certain delays at diagnostic services, I am not blaming anyone for that, it is just the ways of the hospital. Any delays that did happen were acceptable, as my problems weren't life threatening.

The standard of cleanliness was reassuring.

The staff were very diligent and dealt with difficult patients well. I was impressed with what I saw around me.

Nothing could really be practically improved. I checked in to xray and had to wait 4.5 hours, but I just accepted that I had to wait as I was not an emergency.

I had serious thoracic pain, which has since reponded well to treatment. I was kept in overnight on ward 43 due to an over caucious doctor, but in all honesty he was perfectly right to do so.

Thank you for you kind comments about the hospitals services, which have been passed on to the staff concerned.

I apologise if you had to wait for 4.5 hours in the X-ray Department for your examination. The Department is committed to performing a patients examination with the minimum of delay as part of the objective that no patient is kept waiting more than 4 hours for treatment in A&E. It is unusual for a patient to be kept waiting that length of time and I can only apologise for what must have seemed a long wait. The Department must have been extremely busy with Radiographers perhaps in Theatre or X-raying patients on Wards. I am pleased to read that you felt that nothing could really be practically improved.

I am sorry not to have responded sooner. However, Tameside General Hospital has only recently obtained the facility to reply to comments made on this website.
