Anything else?
In February this year I had a total left knee replacement. By May this year I was ready and underwent a total knee replacement on the other knee. I lived in Durham and asked to go the Freeman Hospital because of it's reputation. I was in a same sex ward for four days on each occassion. The food was ok, but I didn't really want much to eat nor did my fellow patients. From referral by my GP to appointments with the Registrar, subsequent operations and recovery the whole thing took about six months. I cannot speak highly enough of the individuals involved. From attending a pre operation video and discussion, through the various tests operations and physiotherapy staff were helpfull, professional and most importantly generous and kind with their words and deeds. Yes at times staff were trying to do things quickly but I felt that is the economic pressure the NHS faces in every hospital. I am not overstating the position in saying that I now have a new life. I no longer feel constant pain, I am now walking 4 to 5 miles relatively easily, my view of "life" has changed dramatically for the better. Thank you everyone, Thank you Freeman, The Freeman and all who work there are to my eyes a Northern Treasure.
