About: Milton Keynes Hospital

Anything else?

I recently visited the hospital for a routine ECG, and they told me I was not leaving till I had a pacemaker fitted! Bit of a shock! Initial tests were quickly and efficiently carried out. Then on to MAU. This was quite busy and crowded, with dedicated staff working hard with all sorts including very needy and demanding patients. There were people with respiratory infections and I never saw a visitor use the hand gel provided (except my own, of course!). Even the tea lady passed biscuits round in her bare hands. I visualised myself coming in healthy and leaving hospital with something awful, especially when someone coughed in my direction!. Then off to CCU. This was absolutely brilliant. Spacious, comfortable, just perfect, but I don't think the NHS can afford every ward like this! The nurses were all angels and not under quite the same pressure as MAU. I had my procedure; the Surgeon was a supreme professional and I just knew the team had done a good job. When I was wheeled back to the Ward I shed a little tear. I suppose it was just relief; I am not in the habit of showing much emotion. The lady who had accompanied me gave me a little peck on the cheek! That epitomised for me the care of all the dedicated people in the hospital, from cleaners to Nurses to Surgeon. I could not do what they do. Of course, the NHS as a system has its little irritations and limitations. You could double the money spent on it and still want more. You read stuff in Newspapers where things go badly wrong in some hospital. All I saw was an awful lot of skilled and caring people. So many I don't know how you thank them all. I think it has changed me a bit, and not just physically. I am not going to grumble about little things anymore. Thank you for making me better!

Thank you very much for your positive comments relating to MAU, CCU, Cardiology and the Hospital as a whole. It is always very much appreciated by staff when patients and their families take the time to give feedback on their experience and your comments will be shared with all staff involved. Milton Keynes Hospital would like to apologise for the length of time it has taken to reply. Thank you.
