About: Birmingham Dental Hospital

Anything else?

Cracked one of my back teeth and exposed the nerve. Couldn't afford the dentist and had no apps at such short notice, so decided to go to the dental hospital. Got there at 6.45am and was 7th in line. Doors opened at 7.30 staff were very pleasant. I seen the first dentist at 9.50, and he asked would I like to save the tooth or remove it, so I asked if it would be okay to remove it so it dont give me problems in the future, he agreed. After being ushered upstairs and another hour of waiting my name got called, I went through, the leading dentist took around 20 mins before she could see me, and when she did she took around 10 mins trying to convince me to save my tooth. In the end I just decided to do what the dentist said as i just wanted the agony to stop. After all that talking she told me there was nobody there to construct my tooth back, I said well just pull it out then, then she told me there would be nobody there to pull it out either, the medical students just looked at the floor, it felt like the lead dentist was doing everything she could to rearrange the date. In the end I gave up she rebooked me to come in the next day but couldn't get/afford the time off work. So after spending 50 pounds that I didnt have just getting to the place (20 pounds petrol and 30 pounds parking for 5 hours!), it was an expensive waste of a journey. No way was I prepared to come back the next day, and to this day still having problems with my teeth because I cant afford the treatment at my local dentist. Avoid this place unless your desperate, but even then you'll find their is not much they can do but give you another appointment. Staff were lovely, the service was not. Seems very under funded. Left around 11.30, 50 pounds poorer, tired from being up since 4am, and still in pain. Good luck I hope many don't experience the dissapointment I did.

I am sorry to read that Birmingham Dental Hospital were unable to resolve your dental pain when you attended, and have asked for your experience to be looked into. As you have given your name in your feedback I am hopeful that it will be possible to find out from the records why the dentist was unable to extract the tooth as you requested. I will ask a colleague to contact you when we have more information.
