What I liked
I have just been to Ward 15 for day surgery. From the moment I walked in the door of the hospital, staff were extremely friendly and helpful. This was from the receptionsist, through health care assistants, nurses and doctors - every one I came into contact with treat me as if I was the only person they saw that day (by which I mean I was never "just another" patient). Everything was explained to me throughout and questions were actively invited. Real professionalism!
I could not ask for better treatment even if I'd gone private.
What could be improved
From this most recent experience, nothing could have been imrpoved. On a past experience about a year ago I had an outpatients appointment at a different dept. It was the first appointment of the day. I got there 15 minute early as you are asked to do. And waited, and waited. Eventualy, as I was about to get up and go home, the doctor I was to see wandered in about 35 minutes late and insisted a nurse go make their coffee (nurses now go to University for 3 or 4 years to qualify, but clearly this doctor thought they are some sort of servants for them), and then stood and chatted about their family for another 20 minutes (within sight and hearing of me, so I know this) before eventualy diegning to see me. Now, treatment is not free, I've paid for it via my taxes, so this really was not good enough.
