"Being 22 weeks pregnant, extreme vomiting "

About: Alexandra Hospital / Maternity care

(as the patient),

I had severe vomiting from 12.00 hours on a friday afternoon, being 22 weeks pregnant this usually goes away. I was unable to keep down food or fluids, from friday afternoon and all night friday including saturday morning.

I telephoned the delivery suite at the Alex Redditch for some advice, they phoned me back within 10 minutes and I was told to come in. Straight away I was taken to a room and assessed by the midwife on duty. Then shortly seen by the doctor.

I needed to be admitted and had to have IV drips all night and all day. The staff from ward 15 and the delivery suite were fantastic, nothing was too much for them, the bells were answered quickly and nothing was missed during my whole stay, my babies heartbeat was regularly checked which was brilliant as I was very anxious.

This is my first pregnancy and did not know what to expect, but I felt completely at ease during the whole of my stay from start to finish. I am so glad that I opted to have my baby at the Alex and am looking forward to the delivery as I know I will be well looked after throughout the delivery and after.

Thank you very much for your positive comments. It is always lovely to receive such feedback and provides us with reassurance that we are providing good quality care.

We will ensure that your comments are passed on to the staff on Ward 15.
