"Appalling coordination between departments"

Anything else?

My Father-in-Law was diagnosed with stomach cancer at the end of July 2013. Since then there has been a litany of poor care, appalling coordination between oncology, A&E and urology. Watching someone die of stage 4 cancer is bad enough without having to deal with staff and extremely poor administration. The MacMillan nurses have been less than helpful and certainly do not live up to their reputation. He had an appointment today at 12:00 with the Oncologist. At 13:40 when it was asked why he had not been seen, only then did the administration staff realised they have not got his notes. It appears that as a result of being discharged from Ward 2 yesterday his notes have gone astray, which now means he cannot see the oncologists until the notes are found. We've also noted that Oncology does not appear as a department in the drop down box for this form. My wife has today eventually rung PALS but given the problems with this hospital I doubt if the service or care will improve as this man reaches the end of his life.
