About: Whiston Hospital

Anything else?

My Mum was admitted to Whiston A+E 16th August via ref from Locum Dr. I have to commend all the professional who where involved in my Mum's treatment and the support of her family. The Locum Dr The paramedics in particular the staff in A+E The Assessment ward and the ward which my Mum was transferred to (I am sorry but I can't remember the name} The Locum Dr was brilliant and acted in the Best Interest of my Mum, finally the family managed to have a professional person who was willing to act in Mum's Best interest. Special thanks and gratitude to the fantastic paramedics who had a very differcult hospital admission to manage. Mt Mum was terminal and did not have capacity to make an informed choice.at the time. They handled the situation with care, dignity and total professionalism, I am sorry that I do not remember their names, however I am sure your dept will be able to trace them from the information \i will provide, please do so.They need to be commended and be aware that they did a fantastic job. Without them my poor Mum would have been left to suffer even more. They used the Capacity Act and acted in the Best Interest. As I am an AMHP I fully comprehend the Capacity and Mental Health Acts and have been in situations when other professionals have been hesitant or would not use the Capacity Act. Thank God we had these particular professionals on board. A+E staff great and very supportive to Mum and family, Assessment ward Again staff all very supportive to Mum and family provided the professional care which was needed at a very stressful time. Next ward Once again nothing but praise for the staff who cared for Mum in her hours of need. The family only regret was that Mum wanted to die at home unfortunately this was not possible as the resources where not available to provide the level of care Mum needed and deserved. I wish this compliment to be brought to the attention of the Chief Executive Once again Thank you all so much Pat Otty and family
