I visited Good Hope with an aggressive patient and a colleague. We were not informed by the staff of the treatment our patient, if they were admitting him or discharging him, until a nurse appeared with 2 porters stating we're moving him. We expressed our concern at moving the patient as he was being physically aggressive with us at that point and required physical interventions.

The nurse rudely stated well we need the room so he's got to go. She then seemingly proceeded to laugh at us as we tried to move him as he was attacking us and stated oh I have missed this. In my opinion she was totally rude, inappropriate, unprofessional, showed no care or compassion at all. No wonder the nursing profession is getting itself a bad name. She was not wearing a name badge so unfortunately I could not take her name to report her formally. Also we were not provided with a discharge letter to confirm any further treatment that our quite poorly patient required. Luckily we took comprehensive notes to document when we returned to our psychiatric ward.

My experience of this hospital is uncaring towards anyone with a diagnosis of mental illness, and an unwillingness to treat if someone has a label of mental health or is on a section of the mental health act. These people are still human beings with feelings and still deserve to be treated with dignity and respect and have human rights.
