About: Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham

Anything else?

I have nothing but praise for all of the staff and the service I received at the QE Hospital in Birmingham. I had a liver transplant and from start to finish I was provided with excellent care during this difficult time for myself and my family. I can honestly say every staff member we encountered was helpful and professional. The minute I walked into the hospital I was very unwell and struggling to walk, the lady on reception as you walk in the main entrance arranged for a wheelchair, the chap who brought me the wheelchair was prompt and pleasant - they both had a "nothing is too much trouble attitude". My wife and daughter informed me that the staff in the restaurant were pleasant and helpful, as they went there to pass some time whilst I was in the operating theatre, they were worried and anxious and felt the staff there made the experience that bit easier by being so pleasant. All my family found the transplant co-ordinators to be true professionals who kept us informed every step of the way. The after care has been great too, the nurses on the ward that I return to for regular check ups are all very good at their job, despite facing a packed waiting room and from what we witnessed some challenging patients, they should feel very proud of what they do day in day out. The hospital itself was clean and well sign posted considering its size. The people who run and manage the hospital do a great job and I hope the good work continues. On behalf of myself and my wife we would also like to say the staf at at Nuffield House were great - where my wife was able to stay whilst I had my operation - what a god send that was as we live quite far away. People these days are so quick to criticise, that's why I feel its important that I put on record what an excellent hospital this is from my experience as a patient. Finally I must express my gratitude to the consultant and his team who performed my surgery, who quite literally saved my life. Thank you to all of the staff at the QE hospital, well done to you all.

Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback on your experience at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham. We are very pleased that you and your family had such a positive experience when you had your liver transplant and during your follow up care. Your comments have been passed onto the senior staff responsible for the areas you and your family members visited; they will ensure your feedback is shared with their team members. It is a real morale boost for staff to receive feedback like this from patients and their relatives. It means such a lot to know that the hard work, dedication and commitment of our staff is recognised and valued in this way. It is also very satisfying for staff to hear they have made such a difference to patients and made sure your experience under our care has been positive. At University Hospitals Birmingham we are always keen to receive feedback from our patients and visitors as it helps us to ensure we are delivering the best in care. Please continue to tell us if things went well so that we can share this with the teams who cared for you. If we don’t get it right please let us know so that we can take action to make sure we get it right in the future. There are a number of ways you can do this, some of which are listed below; ? Fill out our patient experience surveys; we have them for day case or short stay patients, inpatients, and those who attend the Emergency Department. There are general surveys asking about all aspects of your experience as well as others relating to specific aspects of your stay e.g. the operating theatre and food. You may also be contacted by post and given the opportunity to complete a survey relating to your discharge from hospital or your outpatient attendance. ? Fill in a Trust feedback leaflet, displayed in all patient and public areas – please ask staff if they are not easily visible. ? Become a ‘mystery patient’ and tell us about your experience, you can do this just once or each time you attend the hospital. For further information on these and other ways you can give us your feedback please contact patientexperience@uhb.nhs.uk or telephone us on 0121 371 4491/2 Thank you again for sharing your feedback with us and please accept our very best wishes for the future.
