Anything else?
I visited this unit earlier this month for an angeogram. The information I received beforehand gave me a clear understanding of what would happen to me on the day and there was a number on the letter to phone if I had any questions before my procedure. On the day the staff greeted me in a friendly manner, showed me to my bed and explained clearly what was to happen next. The male nurse was so caring and put me at ease, laughing and joking in an appropriate way. When I went to x-ray department for my procedure the staff were very professional and again put me at ease. The staff during the procedure explained what was happening and how I would probably feel. They were thorough and professional throughout. When I returned to the ward I had complications and felt quite anxious but I had every faith in the nurses ability and approach to this. I was fed and watered (although the fish pie left a great deal to be desired) and they didn't rush me off until they were sure I would be OK. I would;d recommend any person requiring an angeogram to have this at Scunthorpe Hospital. The staff take pride in their work, are caring and considerate and have the patient at the heart of their work. Unfortunately I was told the nurses don't get a copy of this praise, only reports of how many complaints they get. Shame on senior management.
