"My elderly relative was admitted ..."

About: Darlington Memorial Hospital

(as a relative),

What I liked

My elderly relative was admitted with a chest infection. Staff worked hard to help him be comfortable. At any stage they explained to him what they were doing and why they were doing it.

There was well signposted personal infection control on the ward (hand gel).

When another patient needed some private dignity we awere asked politely to briefly leave the shared ward, which gave us confidence that all patients would be treated with dignity.

Staff seemed to know and understand his personal needs and his recent medical history. There was a good understanding of how he was being treated.

What could be improved
