"Outstanding treatment, but with a few niggles"

About: Addenbrooke's Hospital

Anything else?

I had a liver transplant in December 2012, left hospital 2 weeks later and have been in excellent health ever since apart from a few issues that are inevitably related to the medication. The transplant unit is staffed with knowledgeable, dedicated and caring people and I was in general very happy with my post-operative treatment. There were a few members of staff who didn't give full measure - as far as I can tell they tended to be on secondment from other departments. Sometimes a lack of communication between low- and mid-level staff. In general, any problems there were seemed to be as much the fault of management as anything else. And the food is rubbish! But if I ever needed further surgery, God forbid, this would be my hospital of choice.

Thank you for your comments. It was good to hear that you would choose the hospital again for clinical care but that attitudal and catering issues were of concern to you. I shall feed back the attitudal issues to the office of our Chief Nurse as it's hard to tell which ward you were a patient on (if you wanted to contact PALS via pals@addenbrookes.nhs.uk we could make sure we target the specific area). Lots of work is ongoing regarding the quality of our food and I shall share your comment with our Estates team. We hope you continue to make good progress following your transplant.
