"Average waiting time 4 weeks ??"

I was refered to the Gastro dept in June and have still not been seen!! After waiting 12 weeks I eventually received an appointment for the 14th October. After taking time off work I arrived at the hospital only to be told that the consultant was stuck at some airport and that the clinic was cancelled. I was given the so called option of waiting around to see if another consultant could see me but told that this would be highly unlikely. To date I have still not received another appointment.
