"HDU on Respiratory Ward 5"

About: Hull Royal Infirmary

Anything else?

My mother was rushed into the hospital with pneumonia. Unfortunately the staff were not able to save her life, but I have been so thankful that all the staff treated her with care and respect, and that the doctors involved me every step of the way, and paid attention to my, and my mother's wishes. They laid the alternatives before me at every stage, but did not put pressure either way. It was rather difficult for me, but it led to a dignified, and peaceful end to my mother's life, rather than having to have permanent care, or to die while struggling for breath. I have to thank everyone on the ward for the enormous amount of professional care, and personal care and attention which they showed to both of us at a very difficult time.
