The Bristol Hospital Oncology department arranged for me to use the ambulance service to get me to the hospital for my radiotherapy treatment.
The service is really great; I live quite a long way from the hospital and have no transport of my own. I’m not sure how I would get to the hospital for my treatment without this service.
The ambulance crews take me right to the reception, nothing seems to be too much trouble. (Jane, the receptionist is lovely! ) I’m really grateful for this service. One of the voluntary drivers is particularly good – Neil has a really good way with him, I was very touched and impressed how caring he was treating one patient who was feeling sick in the ambulance car, stopping in a layby to help him and giving the patient his own water to help the patient feel better.
I should also add that the cars are very comfortable, much more so than the proper ambulance that had to take me home on one occasion.
I cannot fault the service.
