A&E were expcting me as my doctor had rung up a colleague in cardiology and written me a letter. I arrived about 4pm and I was seen by triage nurses within 5/10 mins, by 4.30 I was admitted to A&E where I was seen by a nurse, a doctor, a registrar and a consultant all of whom kept me informed what they were doing. My friend was allowed to go and make us a drink. when I knew I was staying in my friend went home and I asked a nurse if she could get me a drink and a sandwich, which she did willingly. I was taken up to Ward 6 and quickly settled in. All the staff were Kind, friendly and helpful all the time I was there. The doctors and consultant I saw the following morning were most insistant that they would find a theatre slot in the pm so that I could have a permanant pace maker fited to minimalise the risk of infection if a temporary one had to be fitted and me having 2 ops close together. I was taken to theatre at 2.30pm and was back on the ward by 4.30. During the operation the surgeon talked to me about what was happening and also making sure enough anesthetic was being used From the theatre I had been taken to a side room amd given a cup of tea and a sandwich, which were most welcome as I had had early breakfast at 6am! Back on the ward I was now able to get up and walk around and I was now in a bay with 2 other ladies. I was now able to partake of the meals and they were really delicious! Nurse told me I probably wouldn,t be going home until about 7pm. A doctor came at 5pm to check the pace maker was working ok. He apologised for coming so late, but that he had been detained in theatre. He also gave me some "dos & don'ts" and said he would try to get the paper work to me before I left. He didn't and when I spoke to a lady in the pace maker department on the Mon she said it should be with me Tues or Wed. It arrived on Tues. I have alreasdy received various follow up appointments. I was very satisfied with all aspects of my unexpected short stay at the L&D
