I found the check in process very efficient, I was eventually invited for Triage at about 9.30 am I was seated in the ground floor acute treatment had blood pressure taken and effectively ignored for 15 minutes, a person (female), who I at first assumed to be a nurse, attended without any formal introduction of who she was or her position, she was not wearing any ID unlike virtually all the other staff. She made a cursory visual examination, announced without consultation that the tooth would require extraction, almost as an afterthought she seemed to think an x-ray would confirm her prognosis, I was duly x-rayed and following viewing the x-ray I was informed in no uncertain terms that the only option that was on offer was an extraction. I found the woman's style and conduct to be that of someone who was in crisis management mode and while quite possibly highly qualified, completely unable to provide the required standard of care due to the workload she was placing herself under. I had to ask a Nurse/Student who she was, I felt that my long term welfare wasn't on this woman's radar, that I was simply another person with long term dental issues that should take what treatment they offered and move along the car as more passengers are trying to get on the bus. Despite having my file and it's not inconsiderable notes to hand she seemed not the least bit interested in my welfare and I found her 'I know best' attitude very disconcerting to say the least. I feel inclined to wait until my new HC1 exemption comes, live with the considerable pain and get a second opinion as at this moment I have little faith in this woman's diagnosis or for my long term dental welfare.
