"A&E Dept."

Anything else?

My 12 year old son was in excruciating pain with his ear and we went to your A&E Dept at 3am. He had already been given antibiotics by his GP but they were having no effect. The doctor in the department, although very nice, looked in his ear, took a swab (which would take who knows how long to get results) and sent us on our way, with my son remaining in total agony. The next night I had never seen anybody in as much pain as my son. It was unbearable for him and heartbreaking for me. I decided to take him to the Lewisham Hospital A&E. They were very thorough, knew it was more than just a bad ear and sent us to see the emergency ENT clinic at 09.30 this morning. We had fantastic, immediate attention. They couldn't do enough for my son and the doctor there performed emergency procedures to help him. They also instantly knew his antibiotics were nowhere near strong enough and yet your doctor said it was all she would prescribe! Was she not senior enough or does it come down to cost? I cannot thank Lewisham Hospital enough for their professionalism and knowledge. Why is the NHS service not the same everywhere? I will not hesitate to return to Lewisham should the need ever arise. They were amazing!
