"In labour 3 1/2 days"

About: Tameside General Hospital / Maternity care

(as the patient),

Admitted to TGH with pre-eclampsia. At first offered c-section. Then doctors decided to induce labour.

Three inductions tried and failed. Two epidurals ineffective. In labour 3 1/2 days. Baby in distress so emergency c-section performed. Again epidural ineffective so general anaesthetic given. Blood loss due to epidural had to be corrected with blood patch.

Womb damaged and repaired but not sure if this is permanent.

I am sorry that you feel your care was of a poor standard. If you would like to make contact with either the maternity unit or email

supervisorsofmidwives@tgh.nhs.uk they will be happy to discuss your care further.

Kind regards,

John Goodenough

Director of Nursing
