"Feedback at Lucy Wade & PICU, Millbrook"

About: Nottinghamshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust / Adult mental health (inpatient)

(as a staff member posting for a patient/service user),

Sent on behalf of the Patient Feedback Challenge (PFC) team (Service users, Carers, Volunteers, Involvement Staff. )

We wanted to say a few words about the PFC we are helping on at Millbrook’s Hospitals Lucy Wade and PICU wards.

Can we say how much we are enjoying working with Joanna Fox (Acting Charge Nurse on Lucy Wade) Jo has now hosted 2 full meetings with Service users and carers from the Rosewood Involvement centre and from volunteering services and we have our 3rd meeting soon. Jo has also agreed to present on the project to the Rosewood Involvement Changing service Centre meeting In December, key guests have been invited along to share what has been happening from other PFC projects.

Jo encouraged service user etc to a staff away day where jo presented the Patient feedback Challenge project to staff this included a session presented by service users etc, this included someone who had been on Lucy wade as a patient.

At the meetings we have reviewed the Initial Feedback situation, communicating within the Staff team about feedback, Staff culture and the power of feedback and new ideas under development.

The offer from Jo has been just fantastic and this has seen us plan ahead to work in partnership with Lucy Wade &PICU in the next few months, this has included an offer for us to attend community meetings where a service user volunteer helps gather feedback from Patients, a link for us to work with the Peer Support worker at Lucy wade, a longer term plan to involve a volunteer from Voluntary services, . A great many new ideas are in the pipe work which will aid the project which will link to the 4 elements of the feedback challenge

1. Capturing and responding to feedback

2. Sharing & Discussing feedback in teams

3. Acting on feedback

4. Sharing Changes made as a result of feedback

What fantastic Involvement.. Can you pass our comments to Jo please and ask her for some feedback on the project.

Can we finally say how much we are enjoying working with jo.. She is just great.

A big thank you for passing on the comments from the Patient Feedback Challenge Team!

Here at Lucy Wade Unit we have a number of ideas to inspire achievement of the 4 elements of the challenge detailed within your post. With the support of the team at Rosewood involvement centre the ward has become more efficient at the recording of feedback and sharing this within the staff team. Our focus now is on how we share the feedback and the changes made in response to this to a wide audience, which will be discussed at our next meeting.

We are very happy to have Alison from Rosewood involved with our community meeting’s and look forward to seeing how this develops to make feedback an intricate part and offer a meaningful experience for all service users on the ward.

For further details of the wards engagement with the challenge I can be contacted on: 0115 9560856.
