About: Princess Alexandra Hospital (Harlow)

Anything else?

I have just had a stay on Tye Green ward for a knee replacement and just wanted to say how the whole experience was made easier by all staff in every department I attended. From the moment I entered the hospital at the same day admissions ward to discharge from Tye Green ward, I received nothing but 100% good care. Everyone was very helpful and considerate. I felt I was listened to and treated as an individual and at no time was any thing too much trouble. This was especially evident by all the wonderful staff on Tye Green ward. Despite being severely understaffed they always gave 100% and at times went above and beyond, to ensure I was comfortable and supported. I was always consulted and involved in decisions regarding my own care and I was treated as an individual. Everyone helped to make my experience much easier by the way I was treated and I will certainly be sharing this experience with everyone I know. Keep up the good work everyone, you are doing a wonderful job under difficult conditions, you should all be very proud of yourselves.

Reading that 100% good care was provided is really very heartening in our plans to continually improve all services for all of our communities, every day.

We have recognised that extra nurses and staff are needed in some areas and are running a continuous recruitment drive to bring healthcare professionals to work in The Princess Alexandra Hospital NHS Trust. I'm also pleased that you recognise how hard the teams work and I will ensure they are aware how much this is appreciated.

Not many people are able to take the time out to compliment and thank the staff who work in the NHS, but when they do, I can assure you, it is greatly appreciated.

So thank you for your message and please do get in touch in future if you believe there is any way in which we can assist. The Patient Experience is contactable on 01279 827084 or by email at pals@pah.nhs.uk.

Being involved in decisions about your care is something we are working hard to improve and so your positive feedback about that particular aspect of your care if really a delight to read, however, we also know that we need to do this more consistently. So thank you for mentioning that Tye Green Ward have got this right for you. Staffing is a key issue for us, as you rightly recognise, we place great emphasis on how we recruit staff at The Princess Alexandra Hospital NHS Trust, because we believe it is compassion and kindness which must come first when we are choosing who will care for you. We are indeed proud of our staff as they are our most valuable asset. Thank you for recognising the good experience you had and for taking the time to leave feedback, something which is so often that last thing you are able to do after having spent time in hospital. We hope it never happens, but if ever you need any assistance with challenges or unanswered questions about your care and cannot get those readily by speaking to caregivers there and then, or perhaps you remember something later on, then please do contact the Patient Experience Team on 01279 827084. We will be ready to take your call.
