"My nursing care was awful"

About: Clementine Churchill Hospital

Anything else?

My nursing care was awful after my last operation at the Clem November 2012 . I have since had another operation at a BMI hospital (Bishopswood) May this year 2013 absolutly spendid care and attention to patients wellbeing. Now turning back to the Clementine I had a proceedure November 2012 and had super care in the post operative recovery room, however when I returned to my room I was left to ponder who actually was going to look after me. My better half and I were introduced to a nurse amongst several others at their desk as we arrived back to the room, only later when I had an episode which was extremly painful (which it seems has caused no long term effect) we pulled the red call button , no one arrived,Nicky my better half went out and found not one of the several nures were there at all. Now of course they may have been attending another emergency, but no! Nicky went around the ward and looked to see if there was any other activity, no nurses attending other patients. Back to my room more button pushing ten yes ten mins went past and we managed to get someone to help, (well attending me by actualy saying I will get a doctor) some 50 yes 50 mins later the locum turned up to see me. He had been attending other patients but I found out from him that he was the only doctor there that afternoon. Now once again I do understand that there may have been up 100 other patients there that afternoon however the nurses were more interested it seemed to me in chatting while I remained awaiting the doctors attendence. Now I recently choose to have my next operation at Bishopswood for the reason stated above, hopefully others will now place reports condradicting everything I have said I sincerly hope so as it means my complait by phone last year may have had an effect.
