"Caludon centre Beechwood"

About: Coventry And Warwickshire Partnership NHS Trust / Inpatient mental health care

(as the patient),

I would like to report on my stay at Caludon centre Beechwood. I Am concerned about the management of this ward in particular. I have read story's from 21 weeks back that the washing machine then didn't function. Whilst I was in there 8 weeks I had to wear wet clothes because they told me to get out of warm hospital clothes & wrote on my medical report that I was wearing wet clothes.. Furthermore some staff members was telling ill people things like they were aliens, a staff member in kept telling me I should try their cigarettes. Being not that ill but other less stable people could of followed suit.

The activity workers never turned up every day and I did see them sitting on the computers. Also they didn't tell people to wash and there were 2 horrible smelling patients. Also the manager also didn't tell the cook I was Vegan for 4 weeks so all I ate was baked beans when I told then many times about my dietary needs. I let the manager borrow 2 new DVDS and then denied having them. Also the manager told me that being a vegan was silly and that I was ridiculous.

There was one nurse that had a fantastic bed side manner that was "out of this world" She took me out for costa coffee, went out of her way and stayed with me for my injections when nervous, chatted with me when I was down, made the place a more pleasant place to stay. She even checked up on me when I had a minor thing like a bad eye. And think she went the extra mile.
