After the knee surgery, carried out five weeks ago, which has been very successful I spent time on Harvey 1 Ward in Nottingham City Hospital. I would like to thank all the staff there who looked after me so well and with patience and good humour, even when a doctor had some difficulty extracting my blood! Unfortunately I contracted pneumonia and kept the whole ward awake with my coughing. A doctor was called in the middle of the night to settle me down and I stayed there for three extra days which enabled me to observe the excellent teamwork among the staff, and enjoy the good food. I especially recommend the fish pie!
I would really like to thank the physiotherapists who set me on the road to recovery, which has been followed up firmly by my wife, locally known as the 'physio terrorist'!
After five weeks I can now walk without crutches or a stick although I do use one for my daily walk around the estate and I can go up and down stairs without difficulty.
We hear so much criticism of the NHS these days but I can only speak as I found and wish to congratulate and thank everyone who had care of me in Nottingham City Hospital, Ward Harvey 1.
