Anything else?
Recently I suffered such extreme back pain I could neither move nor speak & my work colleague eventually managed to get me in to a car and to A&E where I badly needed help to even get into the dept. when this was told to the receptionist she merely said "we all have friends who need help" and did nothing else to assist. No one from the A&E dept helped as I "only had back pain" however I had collapsed at work with the excruciating pain and was now laying on the pavement unable to stand or walk. Eventually some passing paramedics/ambulance crew helped me into the dept. I was then made to feel useless, time wasting and a liar by staff who told me I was taking up valuable space and time when they were already busy. Had I not been in dire need of help I would not have been there in the first place, but my pain was so extreme I didn't know what else to do and was desperate for medical assistance. I didn't get this, even the doctor who saw me asked me what I expected him to do. I was discharged, and had to exit the dept by holding on to the walls and anything else I could find in order to leave, once outside thankfully 3 taxi drivers came to my aid and between them got me into a taxi that I could lay in to get me home. I realise back pain is so common that virtually everyone suffers at some time, had my pain been manageable I would not have troubled the NHS nothing I had in the way of pain relief had helped at all, this was an acute episode leaving me scared and vulnerable and in need of help and reassurance, not the ridicule and dismissive treatment I experienced on 28/9/13. I was basically told to "man up and get over it". I hope that my next experience of NHS treatment is more positive, it would be difficult for it to be any worse, there was not a single member of staff who treated me like a human being on that day
"Made to feel a nuisance when I was in excruciating..."
