What I liked
The surgeon, theatre staff and recovery staff were excellent professionals who did a superb job replacing my hip.
What could be improved
I have Rheumatoid Arthritis and have not walked for 4 years. I found the staff in the Xray department unhelpful, not to say downright rude. I went down on my bed as I am unable to climb onto the xray table. In every other hospital I have attended, the equipment has been tracked out over the bed and pictures taken. However, this was not done and I was manhandled, (which caused not inconsiderable pain) onto the table and back the same way. Due to RA pain in my hands, shoulders and arms I was unable to push myself across and one Radiographer said, very loudly and extremely rudely "Well, how on earth are YOU going to manage at home if you can't even get onto the table" They knew nothing about my past history and present situation, much less had they spoken to the physios or OT - both of whom were delighted with my progress. I am overweight because I am in a wheelchair and think the staff took one look and thought I was lazy - if only they knew. The young man who had started in Xray that morning (17th September) was kind and courteous - maybe the others could take a note of his attitude in future. Incidentally, I am now walking with sticks and have lost over a stone.
