I hope I never have the misfortune to be admitted to this hospital again. The day staff were fine but the night staff treated me appaulingly. I has an operation under general anasthetic and was returned to the ward around 7pm. At 8pn I asked if I could get uo to go to the toilet. I was told I would have to wait until someone could come with me. I was exhausted and drowsy and waited almost 2 hours, no one came so I went on my own dragging my equipment stand with me. In the meantime a seriously ill patient had been brought into th ward so I did understand the staff were busy. I also asked for an unused empty drip to be removed as it was painful and I had another on fitted in the other arm. It was finally taken out at midnight. All this time I had been kept awake with a team of 6 staff seeing to the ill patient, shouting at each other and the lights on. At 1.30 in the morning I couldn't stand it any longer and asked the doctor how much longer it would go on for and if there was anywhere else I could go to get some sleep. He said it could go on all night. I was in tears by this time as I was so tired and full of drugs. A few minutes later 2 nurses came, and without saying a word to me started to move my bed. They told me they were moving me to another room whe they had got me through the doors. They did this very grudgingly as if I was a bother to them. They left me in room without saying anything else. I was in severe pain and was unable to find the bell to press for help. I finally found it the following morning at the back of the bed well out of my reach. If this is how ill people in this country are normally treated it is a total disgrace. I am still having nightmares about it and will never go back to this hospital.
