"Mother in law being left without eating or drinking and no doctor on duty"

My mother in law is in the new ward at Whipps Cross, the Acute Assessment Unit.

She is not eating or drinking and there are never notes made when she refuses her tray of food. When the tray is accepted and not touched again no record is being made.

She was brought in because she has stopped eating and feels terrible and this is now continuing in a hospital. The nurses are unaware that she is not eating/drinking because there are no notes to let them know.

She has had a mild heart attack and has previous history of heart conditions (first attack at age 40 years) but apparently there are no cardiologists working this weekend to see her?

Lastly the doctors have asked her what her previous medical history is and what medication she is taking. She is 80 years old and has a terrible memory and the start of dementia. Why is there no centralized system in place to access a patient's medical history rather than relying on a very ill 80 year old lady to explain?

Last time she was in hospital she told the doctors she was on medication that was incorrect. Fortunately my husband was able to tell the staff the correct medication but what if he had not been there?

Lastly whilst I understand visitors must not appear "en masse" and disrupt the peace of a ward, usually visitors come in pairs. At present my mother in law's 80 year old partner has the chair by the bed and my husband who has driven over 2 hours to get to the hospital has to stand or sit on the hospital floor from 3pm-7pm and is refused when he requested another chair. Lovely way to treat distressed relatives.
