Recently I was a patient in the Western General Edinburgh.
It was a very busy ward. At night we never heard the night staff, thus patients could sleep without being disturbed by the noise of the night staff laughing or talking or generally making a noise.
The noise that night staff make is a common complaint in hospitals. Night staff don't seem to think that they should go about their business quietly. But their common sense should tell them that they are there to nurse people who are ill and need their rest and not be disturbed by their racket. It was very noticable in St John's Livingston.
There have been many complaints about the noise that night staff make but there never seems to be anything done about it either - that or the night staff do not care.
